James Levy and Herman Dune met during the Heyday of the Antifolk Scene in New York City, both playing in clubs like Sidewalk Café, Intercontinental or Union Pool around the city.
They recorded Incredible Vice at David Ivar Herman Dune’s studio in San Pedro, California (Santa Cruz Studios).
The tradition of duos of songwriters is both challenging and fun, bringing the best of writing and performance out of competitive artistic minds.

Herman Dune is a French-Swedish Act based in San Pedro, California. Created by David Ivar “Yaya” Herman Dune in the Raging ‘90s
Herman Dune’s first album TURN OFF THE LIGHT came out in 2000, that is 20 Years ago!
Herman Dune has had several line ups and all of them were fronted by singer songwriter David Ivar Herman Dune who has also released music under pen names BLACK YAYA, YAYA HERMAN DUNE, DAVID IVAR, KUNGEN and others.
David Ivar has also written and recorded movie soundtracks (Mariage A Mendoza, BlockBuster, Bonnie & Clyde and more…) and produced the recordings of many other artists.
Past members include Andre Herman Dune nka Stanley Brinks, and Neman nka Zombie Zombie

WARNING
Throughout Herman Dune’s career, there have been too many different labels in the UK, the USA and Europe to even keep track, from Virgin to Track And Field, from EMI to Everloving, from GUM to Prohibited, from City Slang to Atmosphériques. That makes for a total headache in terms of physical and digital distribution, and at present time it is not possible to gather Herman Dune’s wide catalogue of albums and songs under one roof. Some albums are not available in certain territories digitally, some have sold out physically, others have untraceable artwork or masters. It is a very different situation from most artists who work with the same structure, you know, like you can get all of Nick Cave’s Records on Mute etc. One day, we hope to be able to offer you Herman Dune’s full discography. Right now, David Ivar has created his own label
